4th Class wrote a poem together about the St. Stephen’s Day tradition of ‘Hunting the ‘Wren’

Verse 1. (Cian M, Nancy, Maeve, Conn, Darragh C, Aisiling)

The wren is known as the king of the birds,

They’re the furthest thing away from nerds,

The wren, the wren, flies up high,

Please don’t shoot it or it will die.

Verse 2. (Ella, Megan, Brendan, Darragh F.)

It is the time of the wren,

Let’s celebrate this year again,

As everyone gathers near and far,

To collect money in a jar.

Verse 3. (Gavin, Precious, Niamh, Muireann, Cian C)

We go around from house to house,

With our little friend,

He’s the King of all the birds,

And he will always be heard.

Verse 4. (Thomas, SarahJane, Rachel, Conor, Aoife, Calum)

The wren, the wren, the bird can sing,

The wren, the wren, the bird king.

Hides in the eagles feathers,

Flies up to the sun,

Its life is done.

Verse 5. (Ruairí, Peter C, Peter N, Ross, Ciara, Adam, Sophie)

The wren is smiling in the tree,

He’ll always be the one for me,

We dance around with great glee,

So give us a penny or two or three.

The wren, the wren he is the king,

The wren, the wren, is a lovely thing.

Santa watches the tin whistle performance of Jingle bells.
A great performance!
Lovely music!
